Mom's All Moved In

She took the ride from the hospital to Brookhaven quite well. It was about a 32 mile drive, all Interstate. I know she must be worn out. I am. I took along several pillows so she would have something to put under the leg and foot so it wouldn't have to rest straight down, this way one pillow was under the back of the knee, and the other under her foot.

Mom's all moved into Brookhaven for her rehab. What a day. Hotter then usual. Abe drove me up to Troy to pick her up and I fell asleep several times, and he asked how I thought I was going to drive if I was falling asleep. I told him if I were driving, I wouldn't be sleeping, since driving on Interstate 70 and Interstate 75 keeps you awake with all of the traffic.

Got back to Brookville about 2:30, dropped Abe off first, then got Mom over to Brookhaven. Her room isn't exactly where we thought it would be, it's at the opposite end of the hallway, but it should be a lot nicer, she won't hear all of the noise that goes on right around the corner from the other room, since that is the dining room area, and also the nurses station.

She has a nice room, bed, nice soft chair, flat screen TV, her own phone that you can call her anytime you want and it rings right at her bed. Also her Granddaughter, my niece brought in two other chairs so she'll have enough when she has visitors. She can either have her meals in her room, or they will take her to the dining room area in a wheelchair until she's better able to get around. She has a lovely view from her window, it faces a lake with a fountain, and it also faces the North which means she won't be getting any hot afternoon sun or early morning sun. She has her own heat/AC unit and can have it what ever temp she wants. She has a large bathroom, with a walk in shower, but until the staples come out she won't be able to take a shower. They checked her over thoroughly and marked down any bruises, cuts or scraps, in other words, they do a body inventory. I guess to protect themselves, so no one can say she got that after she arrived.

So for anyone wanting to send her a card or note, which I know she would get a kick receiving cards from people she doesn't know, here is her address for the next two to three weeks.

Brookhaven
One Country Lane
Rehab Center
Olive Mae Custer
Room 615
Brookville OH 45309

Thanks to all that have asked about her and have said a little prayer. I think it's amazing, at 84, and surgery like she went through on Monday she is doing so well. Yes, yes, that's right, I have a very young Mother. But I love her to pieces.
More later.

Thanks for the update Patty. Glad she is doing ok. Her room sounds really nice ... is she in it alone or does she have a roommate?

I'll get her a card tomorrow and get it in the mail this weekend.

How are YOU doing?

I'm an accountant and I did the math...it seems likely that your children have a very young mother as well. :-) Makes the chances for a five generation photo op all the better.

I'll send your mom a card or a letter or a poem or something. Does she have a good sense of humor? I don't like Hallmark cards and prefer to make up my own words.
