My Physical
Starts off with the weigh in and measure you, I am now 4' 10". No wonder it seems like my two youngest Grandkids are catching me in height. Then the trip to the john and hope you can hit that WAY TOO SMALL bottle. Next in the little room where they check the blood pressure, temperature and ask you some questions. Next the EKG. First time I had my legs bent at the knee, but I asked first if that would be alright, she said she thought so, this way it takes pressure off the lower back and hips. Well apparently it wasn't alright, so she did a second EKG with my legs flat.
Then she told me to put on this gown and she left the room, well I'm fat, but I have no idea what people who are even bigger then me does, since this paper gown did not come close to covering anything. She comes back in to do the blood work. I was amazed, she was able to do it without a struggle like she usually has, I have veins that collapse and also hide.
Then in comes the Nurse Practitioner, my regular Doctor was booked up till Oct. and he thought I should have my physical before he would be able to perform one, he said she was more then capable of performing one. She did her thing, listened here and there and everywhere. Tells me my EKG showed some pvc's. Now I don't know about you but right away I thought of plastic pipe or tubing. So when I came home I looked it up and it's premature ventricular contractions. I believe I ahve had those off and on for the past forty years. BUT she wants it checked out anyway. So I go to a cardiologist on Aug. 27.
She also reminded me it's time for my three year colonoscopy. The actual colonoscopy isn't bad, I sleep through the whole procedure. It's getting prepared for it that's a bitch. Doing the clear liquid thing for 24 hours and then drinking that gallon of crap to make you go to the bathroom is something else. By the time the procedure is over, I am so weak, I can hardly make it to the car. Said she was also sending the urine speciman off for a culture, I might have an infection.
And so goes the life and health of old lady lincoln.
