Got My Blood Report Today

After New Years day, I have to start working seriously on my sugar intake again and bring it down. My blood pressure was 130/82, for me that's good. He didn't really give me a number for my cholesterol, just said it was good, last time in Aug. it was 209, but he said the ratio between the good and bad is really, really good, so he isn't going to hound me about that. But for some reason the triglycerides jumped 100points, it was 171 last time, which was a little high, this time 271, so he said a lot of that would depend on what I had eaten the week or so before I went in, well that was the week after Thanksgiving. That he wants me to work on. And he said my glycohemglobin was a little high 6.4, they like it to be 6 or under. Then he checked the last time and it ws 6.4 also. He said that means my sugar level runs about 130. He doesn't want it to go over 135, so he wants me to start watching more closely and said don't even worry about it unti Jan. 2.

Then we were talking about the handicap sticker Abe has for the car, when he first got it, i said to him, lets just park close and you can walk, the excercise is good for us. But on days it's really cold, it's harder for him to breathe. I mentioned to the doctor how this past year, I have found myself using the sticker when I go shopping, even if Abe isn't along, since my knee has been bothering me so much. And last evening on the news they were talking about how they are cracking down on this, unless the person who the sticker is written up for, is in the car, the person using it can be fined $250.00 or more, They found some had made their own, some using their Grandparents stickers, and some were stickers of deceased family members but the stickers had not expired yet. So while we were talking, he was writing and I assumed he was making notes in my chart, and then he handed me a slip, so I could get a sticker. That really surprised me. Back about 12 years ago when I had sarcoidosis and could hardly walk across the room, because I couldn't breathe, he didn't even suggest I get one. Today we were just talking and he said I needed one for myself. Hey I wasn't about to argue with him. So mine is good until Dec. 2012. I got two, one to carry in the glove box of our car, and one to take with me if I ride in someone else's car. I hate seeing them dangling from the mirror and they say right on the tag, REMOVE BEFORE DRIVING, but you would be suprised how many people don't remove them.

That has been my day. Still have heard nothing about my bone scan I had done last Friday, so assuming it isn't anything too serious, or someone would have called me. I doubt the report has even been worked up yet, since the holiday was in there. I go back to the oncologist office that ordered the scan on Jan. 11th. So I will know something then.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, our one daugher got tickets for my Mother, herself and me to go to Cincinnati on Jan 17th. to see Dancing With The Stars. How about that. That was a Christmas gift and she wanted us to open it at the same time. When I first heard she had my Mom something special I asked what, she said, i can't tell you, and I said oh, do I have one to, she said well yes, and I jokingly said burial plots. But she didn't find that funny,

Everyone have a wonderful evening, keep warm if you live where it's cold, stay dry if it's raining where you're at and if you live where the weather is WARM, stay cool. Sleep well.

Hi Patty,

I'm glad the doctor gave you the sticker. And your report wasn't too bad. (I have to go for mine in February.) I hope the bone scan is OK as well.

Wow, Dancing with the Stars tickets! I loved that show, and wish they would come in my area. But they don't usually perform in the boonies. LOL. That's a great Christmas gift, and I know you and your Mom will enjoy it.

Enjoy the evening.

Your reports aren't that bad, dear. Especially taken right after Christmas. I have my blood work done early Jan.
I'm excited for you to see Dancing with the Stars. We have a cousin "Beverly" who is a back up singer on that show. Know you will have a grand time.
Love and Hugs

Glad to hear you up-beat Patty. Having lived in the Northeast for 65 years, I know how bad those winters are. Those sticker for the car have pretty much the same rules all over - it's like SS - after 65 you need it.

I always appreciate your sharing the humor in life with us, and Abe sharing his wonderful writing and photography with us.
