Daughter is getting along great since the surgery on Thursday.

Hope this doesn't gross anyone out.

She had it Thursday morning around 7:30am and the doctor came out and told us all about it around 10:10am. Said she would be in recovery for about another hour to hour and a half and then to her room. Well it was a little longer than they said. But finally she made it to her room, which they changed the room number on us three times. Her partner brought me home around 2:30, that way she could let the dog out, since it was around 5am the last time he was out. Then we loaded up the dog and came on home to my house.

By around 5pm, she called another daughter who wasn't home from work yet and told her she was bored. I would think the morphine pump she was on would have had her sleeping all day and night. But by the next morning she was wanting the cath removed so she could walk to the bathroom. By lunch time on the day after surgery she was walking around the hallway. It's like a semi circle where the nurses all set, and you can walk on out into the hallway and back around. They call it the pod. This hospital also has it fixed if anyone gets to close to an exist with a newborn, all kind of things beep and go off.

In fact while we were waiting for her to get prepared for surgery, we heard them say Code Adam, all clear. I asked the nurse what that meant and she said someone in the maternity ward was too close to an outside door with a baby. I don't know if this means the baby wears something, or there's something attached to it's clothing or what.

I also noticed, and I don't know perhaps all hospitals do this now, when it was time for a patient to have their medicines, they use one of those plastic tube things like at a drive through bank, and the medicne is sent to the nurse station through one of those. I suppose this does keep anyone from breaking into a medicine cabinet in a supply room.

I have a photo of what they removed during the surgery. I was going to post but thought perhaps it was too graphic. She had a fibroid laying on the outside of her uterus plus several inside. They are testing everything that was removed to make sure it's all ok. She should hear something in a few days. The doctor said she didn't have any reason to think they would find anything. Becky said everyone in the operating room was female. Except for the kidney specialist that had to insert stints in the tubes that come from the kidneys into the bladder. The stints light up and that way the doctor operating does not accidentally cut or knick the tubes. The doctor said they do this when the fibroid are so big that they have pushed things out of place. Then after the surgery the doctor removes the stints.

Ok, I'm going to insert the photo here. Like I said it will be rather gross for some. As you're looking at the photo, the things on the right side is the tumor they removed from off the uterus, the thing on the left side is the uterus and ovaries, and I believe the piece towards the top of the basin is the top of the cervix.

Yep. Right before lunch. I can't imagine eating right now. But in a short time I will get over it and be ready to eat.

Hi Patty,

I'm glad to hear your daughter is doing so well after the surgery. You explained the procedure quite well, and the picture isn't gross at all. That's a large tumor!

Have a good night and a great Sunday.

Dear Patty ~~ Reading the last few posts of yours, the oyster eaters
grossed me out more than this post. I do hope the tests all come back
negative, and that the bladder problem has eased. I am not at all sure about the cow upstairs, maybe
they meant up some steps into a truck or something, but they would still would need to get her off. Who knows? We could do with some of that rain you are getting. Take care, Love, Merle.
