In US is June 14th. That's the one day everyone should put out their flags. Usually the town also puts them out. Flag day was my Maternal Grandmother's Birthday. She was born in 1904 and died in 1993, she was 88 years, 9 months and 24 days old.
This was a Grandma before her time. She loved to go sit along a creek and fish. Thought it was hilarous when she would catch a crawfish, and whip it back at us kids, while it was still on the hook on her old cane pole. Then she would twist off it's tail and fish with it. Some of them seemed to have larger claws on the front then others, but it didn't matter, I hated it when she would flip them back at us for devilment. She also would light up a Lucky Strike or a Cool cigarette, saying it kept the mosquitoes away
She just wasn't the usual kind of Grandma. She also drove her own car until she was about 75 then she sold it, but kept her driver's license current just in case. LOL
She was completely opposite of my Paternal Grandmother. This was one of the last pictures I have of her, I had gone over to her apartment and brought her over to our house to have dinner with our family. She lived about 7 miles from us before she had to go to a Nursing Home.
