Saw this in my Thursday morning paper.

Woman accused of biting,
punching son's principal

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Rhode Island woman is accused of punching and biting her 11-year-old son's school principal after she was told the boy was being suspended.

Police say 30-year-old Aleyda Uceta also bit an officer trying to arrest her after Friday's incident at Roger Williams Middle School in Providence.

She is charged with assault on school officials, assault on police officers and resisting arrest.

Police say Uceta punched Principal Rudolph Moseley Jr. in the face and bit his left arm after he told her that her son would be suspended for three days for refusing to go to a room for misbehaving students.

Attempts to reach Uceta by phone for comment were unsuccessful.

Sounds to me like the son was taught well from his Mother's actions. Perhaps she should have been sent to the room with her son for misbehaving. And then we wonder why our children act the way they do!! If they see it at home or in this case, hear about it from the police, what can and do the children think.

If this woman acts this way in public, how must she act at home. I think they both need some counseling and perhaps anger manage classes. That's part of society's problem, no one has any respect for authority. They think they can live by their own rules.

What a sad situation for all concerned. The problem is she can't see she has a problem that she is perpetuating by her own behaviour. No chance for the child, unless his mother sees that reality, and accepts she needs to change first.
I pray there is a good outcome here.

I thought this only happened in the Netherlands, because our police is too soft.

If they've got any sense they'll be sending her to a room all right. One where they lock the door!

It's no wonder at all that children are behaving like this. We wouldn't have dared do anything to shame our parents. Now the parents have no shame. Sad!

wonder what the boy had done behavior wise to be sent to a room. AND we don't know the circumstances of the boy....is he normal or a special needs child? SO many variables....but no excuse for the woman to act like that around the principal.....

However...there are times I am sure special needs moms probably FEEL like or wish they could react like that when things happen involving their child in school and if the staff at the school causes them problems.

touchy subject....the mother is setting a poor example for the son yes. Unless she has something wrong with her.....she should know she cannot respond that way or suffer the consequences. Well..maybe she taught her son something then after all.

What NOT to do because see.....you go to jail!

Boy, isn't that the truth! Children learn by examples they see at home. She sounds like she is probably the kid's problem herself. Monkey see, monkey do!!!

I think Melinda covers the broader issue here. But in the end, the mother was a bit nuts! The boy may have some problems, but the mother getting out of control and acting like a small child might, is not the answer. It sounds like both mother and son need some help!

Good night, Patty.
