I get too emotional to watch these but I watched anyway. Got tears in my eyes. Those were the days. I was young and as strong as an ox and could run, jump and do just about anything. Now, I am reduced to oxygen at night and a breathless walk a few steps in one direction and a few steps back.
I have myself to blame but the Army is to blame for giving me and all the other soldiers a pack of cigarettes in each C-ration. Our food for the day also included a candy bar.
I live near Woolacombe beach where the American Army stayed and practiced during the war before the landings. There is a nice hotel on the front and in the entrance is a photo of some troops lining up having their photo taken, I wonder how many of those smiling faces survived. Something you and Abe may find interesting is some secret films of the American forces training on the beaches here in North devon. You can see them at this link:

Very emotional, patriotic videos, Patty.
Thanks for sharing them. Now I have to go get a tissue. Darn it.
Hey Patty, that first video was emotional.
