Beautiful Story

The Rose

James was a highly respected officer in the army. In his spare time, he liked to surf the net and talk to new people online.

He had been talking to a woman for some time now and had a sort of internet relationship with her. He had actually fallen in love with her. The only problem was that any time he asked her about sending a picture her response was "if you love me this much then what I look like doesn't matter."

So he agreed and let it go.

Later, even without seeing her but only knowing her personality and how loving and caring she was, he asked her to marry him, to which she answered yes. They decided to meet at a train station for the first time and she told him that she would be wearing a red rose so that he would know who she was.

Well the time came and James stood there in his full officers uniform waiting ever so anxiously for her to come off of the train.

Then he looked over to see a tall blonde with a short cut dress, nice legs, long hair waving back and forth in the wind and the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. He couldn't believe his eyes. . .
. . .then from behind her appeared an older heavyset woman wearing a red rose.

As the beautiful woman walked by she asked, "Goin my way soldier?" but James, as if he didn't even hear her, just turned around standing at attention with tears of joy in his eyes and looking at the older woman and said, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you," to which the older lady said, "I don't know why but that lady that just walked by told me to wear this and if you came to me to tell you to meet her in the restaurant across the street."

That is the way most of our lives are. The decisions we make can change our lives. If you make the wrong choice you could end up empty-handed but choosing the right way, even though it may be the harder way, will work out always in the end.

We all have at least two choices to make, the right one and the wrong one.

Which one will you make?

But remember, too often meeting someone over the internet DOES NOT WORK OUT THIS WELL, because there are all kinds of weird people out there in this big world. Some are just plain evil. So be very careful before meeting someone in person that you met over the internet. And if you do, make sure it's someplace public and never, ever go off with them alone.

Patty, I like your advice at the end of the story. We warn our children, "Don't talk to strangers." And then to go meet someone we met through the internet is just downright dangerous, as you have already pointed out.

The story was cute, though.

Beautiful story!
I am glad you added the warning at the end. So many times it just doesn't end up that way.
Recently, a lady from Charlotte, NC had met a man from Columbia, SC, online.
They dated for awhile, until she found out he was married. When she drove to SC to break off the relationship, he killed her. And his accomplice was ANOTHER girlfriend.

Wish they all turned out like the one in your post!

A lovely story, what a gentleman he turned out to be.
but the warning is very apt, at the moment in the news here in the UK is the story of a young 17 year old who met up with a man unbeknown to her family. and he killed her.

What a nice story...

The warning rings true over in the UK at the moment as a young girl met her death at the hands of one of these cranks last week..... he was caught but more by luck than anything... he had been stopped for a traffic offence and broke down about what he had done.

That's a wonderful story. I love your commentary at the end of it. Excellent advice. I've heard several people meet and fall in love over the internet. I think I would be too frightened to do that. I'd probably bring a friend (or five) with me to a VERY public place.

Have a great Sunday!
