First Day of March

Lions and Lambs

Photobucket

You remember the old weather saying March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb!. The winds of March encourage an exploration of contrasts. From fierce gales to gentle breezes, pelting rains to soft mist. March is the time of transition from winter to spring.

Lions and lambs also invite comparison. Lions are called the king of beasts, the predators at the top of the food chain. Lambs blindly follow the herd and can easily become the lion's prey.

Now for a little poem

"The March wind roars
Like a lion in the sky,
And makes us shiver
As he passes by.

When winds are soft,
And the days are warm and clear,
Just like a gentle lamb,
Then spring is here."

Oh dear, we are having a very mild start. Hope it stays that way.

The Lion has visited, lets hope the Lamb is not far behind!
Last week my husband said he thought we were going to get an early spring, then we got over 2 feet of snow!

Well, the lamb has been here through the entire winter. Makes me wonder when the lion will roar.

My husband and I are grieving over the loss of our little grey cat. She died Sunday morning while we were at church. We both felt something strange as we pulled away from the house--she sat there watching us, and seemed sad.

I felt like I might never see her again--but shook off the feeling, as we had to go, because we were to meet friends later on.

By dark we noticed she hadn't been around all day.

We spent the night calling out for her, wandering the neigborhood. Checking every nook and cranny of our house.

The odd thing. I called the police station this morning. They said they'd received a call Saturday night that a little grey cat had been hit near our home.

They were insistent that the time was correct--yet Alan and I saw her Sunday morning.

Makes me wonder--did she come by to say goodbye? God would be gracious to let such a thing happen I think.

In the meantime. We are having a very hard day.

Well, March 1st was a tame lion in my neck of the woods! LOL. So, hopefully it will go out like a frisky lamb. Haha. The weekend will be in the sixties, forecast said. Yayayay!

Happy March, Patty.

PS. Such a sad, heart-breaking story about the little gray cat. Made me teary eyed.

Lions and Lambs are also mentioned in the Bible as laying down together in Heaven!

The picture is such a darling drawing.

Happy happy March and may a warm spring be here soon for all those dealing with snow.

We've have had a lamb visiting lately, thank God!

Beautiful weather here, a little rain but then days of sunshine.

A very quiet lion here ... hasn't crashed the lamb's party yet! Spring is indeed upon us.

Very cute poem, so far March has entered rather mildly. Our weatherman says in the 40s by the weekend, keep your fingers crossed. Although let us not be fooled by March, it may have a few surprises, such as rain turned into ice.

That is the cutest little poem. I've never heard it. I'll have to copy it down.
