Visited Mom Today
I’m so happy and thankful, Mom seemed so alert today. She was sitting in a chair when we got there, the same old chair that caused my problems. I told her to tell them she doesn’t want to set in it too long, it seems to pinch the sciatic nerve. She also seemed in really good spirits. The therapist put her through some exercises while we were there. I was amazed, Mom was able to do them all, you could tell some were more painful then others. But hey, Mom turned 84 in December, and she just had this surgery on Monday the 21st. I think it’s amazing how well she is doing. Of course they still have the morphine pump hooked up and a solution of something dripping into her arm, I’m assuming to keep her from getting dehydrated and also some antibiotics.
We visited about two hours, she received several cards while we were there, from family members. We also fixed her phone so it will be handy for her to reach, where they had it sitting, it was almost impossible for her to be able to answer it. And I will be calling her several times a day. It’s about a 32 mile drive, which isn’t too bad. So on the way home, we ran through Englewood and got some Chinese food for our lunch. I always seem to get the same thing, but I know it will be good. Hot Sour soup and Kung Pao Chicken, today I got the egg roll. Brought home what was left over and between left over pizza and sald from supper last evening and Chinese left from lunch today, guess what we’ll be having for supper tonight.
I’m going to add a photo here of her knee. The bandage was removed today.

She did seem in good shape today and was almost back to her normal old self. She didn't want to eat her lunch in front of us but we told her go ahead and eat. She is looking forward to coming to Brookville for her rehab and that might be as early as tomorrow or Friday.
Patty I give your Mom a lot of credit for sheer guts!! I need both of my knees done too .... but there is NO WAY I'll ever do it! I have a scar on one knee that is a bit longer than your mom's and is on the side rather than on the top. I don't think I want another one!
I'm so glad she is doing well ... she sounds like just the type of person to have a knee replaced and fight back and come back better than new regardless of age!
I talked to her on the phone today and she did sound in good spirits!
Noah is complaining of another sore throat. He has been outside a lot and rolling in the grass and stuff. I think the pollens outside bother him. Hopefully he won't get as bad this time round as last time.
