"Out of the Mouth of Babes"

This story below didn't happen to me. BUT, I can remember when our one Grandson would call me, he was around 3 or 4, and perhaps at the time I was feeling pretty crappy, but as soon as I said hello and this little voice came over the phone saying Hi Gammaw, even my worse day soon changed. He'll be 16 this coming Aug. Which is hard to believe.

My granddaughters visit often. They are 9, 6 and 3 yrs of age. They love drawing and making up stories. Abby, the 9 yr old came to me with one of her latest drawings. I looked at it in surprise. The picture was of a child . Underneath her drawing she wrote, "NO ONE IS FLAWLESS." I found this amazing that a little child of 9 yrs of age could realize just how true that was. I think that is a very good quote for all of us to remember.

One day my youngest granddaughter, Libby, was visiting with me. She calls me Mema. I was having a fairly bad day before she got here and had been crying. She was jumping on my bed and all of a sudden she jumped to me and gave me the biggest hug a 3 yr old can give and said, "Mema, I love you so much, can you be my best friend forever?" You know, I answered that with a huge "YES," but what got to me was how a little girl of 3 could take my bad day and turn it into one of the most beautiful days a grandmother could ever have with one little gesture. So learn from a child and try to say something nice to someone every day. You never know how if it could make their day too.

My middle grand daughter, Katie was here with her sister Abby visiting. They were having a sleep over with their, Meme. I had just gotten out of the shower when they arrived and my hair was still wet and I hadn`t fixed it yet. after they got settled in I said that I was going to go and dry and fix my hair so I didn`t look so bad. Katie looked at me and said,"You could never look bad, you're our Mema, you're always beautiful! " As they say..."From the mouths of babes." And you know what, I felt so beautiful that day too.

I remember Alex and his words. Nice that we got to see him growing up. I still see him on the carpet in Brookville, looking at us there to visit.

Grandchildren are precious, and these stories are so sweet. I wish mine lived closer, but we talk by phone often, and they come and visit as much as possible. And they grow up much too fast!

I enjoyed this post. Hope you have a good night, Patty.
