Just got this in my e-mail

Wanted to share
Since tomorrow is the start of a new work week, hope all the Mommy's and Daddy's that go off to work remember this. Also I don't know about any of you that read my blog, but I find Sunday evenings to be rather melancholy. Even when I was a child, I found Sunday evening made me feel that way. Sometimes more than other times. When Abe worked outside the home and the kids all went to school, I hated Sunday evenings, we would be watching Walt Disney. I knew on Monday morning I would have to make sure five people were up, had clothes ready, breakfast ready and lunches packed.

I loved summer time, the kids were home. Sure sometimes it could get hectic, but if they didn't have something to wear, except for clean underwear everyday, they could wear the same clothes they wore the day before. Perhaps I was just lazy. LOL

Here's the little story I just received in my e-mail called: "May I Borrow $25.00?"

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'
DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.
SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'
DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing' the man said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'
DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.' The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the Door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's' questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money, after about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 And he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door. 'Are you asleep, son?' He asked. 'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy. 'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you Daddy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled. Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied. 'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of
your time with someone you love..

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

From my house to yours

'The light of God surrounds us.
The love of God enfolds us.
The power of God protects us.
The presence of God watches over us.
Wherever we are God is and all is well.'

From my home to yours - enjoy. Please don't break this even if you only send it to one person. Thanks Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right.. Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Yes, Sunday night meant back to school the next morning, or work, back to business, and no time for much else. Weekends and summer time were for togetherness, weren't they?

What a sweet story and beautiful reminder of what is important in life. Thanks for sharing it, Patty.

Our beautiful weather continues, thank the good Lord.

Good night, Patty!

Love,

Renie

I remember Sunday nights like you described. Even when I was a kid, Sunday nights were the best. That was the one night a week that our hotel and bar was closed, and we all gathered in the living room to watch Lassie at 7pm. Mom always made her luscious chocolate peanut butter fudge! Our little parakeet was let out of his cage to fly around and play with his toys on the coffee table, my dad would occupy the sofa with our boxer dog right at his side. Those were the best nights! Every night of the week, us kids had to go to bed alone while Mom and Dad had the business open. We didn't have a normal childhood like other kids, but they made a good living and we never wanted for anything. But, deep down inside, I always wished we had a regular home like other kids did, with their moms and dads watching TV with them. We played games or cards with our kids every night and made every night a fun night. I get kind of melancholy on Sunday nights, too.

I can see you had your hands full with 5 little ones to get up and ready and off to school...I only had 2 to get out the door, and that was hard enough! LOL

Loved this post, Patty!!! Sometimes I wish my kids were still young like that! Life changes over the years.....

A very sweet story, and one worthy of passing on to others. When the time comes to meet our Maker, I don't think anyone would say "Gee, I wish I'd spent more time at the office."

Thanks for sharing this one with us.

I hate Sundays, and particularly Sunday evenings, and I think I have for a very long time.

I knew the story of the little boy. Someone sent it to me once through my email at work, and after I read it, I just couldn't stop crying, it was embarrassing.

I cried because I believe that many of us (especially where I live in the Bay Area) have lost our values and completely lost track of what's important.

We're constantly running for that extra dollar we'll need to buy that extra thing we're going to discard not even 3 years from now because we'll need the new-and-improved extra thing someone will come up with and decide we all must have ...

I think I also cried because I can't remember harmonious family evenings unless I really try hard. My parents separated when I was around 11 or 12, so it's getting pretty hard to remember that far back :)

Good night, Mrs. Lincoln, have a nice week.
