Just came in my email this morning

You Are Where God Wants You To Be

The next time your morning seems to be going wrong and the kids are slow getting dressed and you can't seem to find the car keys and you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated. Praise God instead, because God is at work watching over you.

After Sept. 11, I happened to call a man on business whom I didn't know and haven't, nor will probably ever talk to again. But on this particular day, he felt like talking. He was the head of security for a company that had invited the remaining members of another company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space.

With his voice full of awe, he told me stories of why these people are alive and their counterparts no longer were. In the end, all the stories were just about little things that happen to us.

You might know the head of the company got in late that day because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow is alive because it was his turn to bring donuts. There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered and put in a book. The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me, I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.

May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things.

If you delete this, it's okay too...

That was interesting, it reminded me of a scripture in Ecclesiastes 9:11, where in part it reminds us that "time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all." If we knew about a calamity ahead of time we surely wouldn't be at that place, would we? Now when it's an 'unforeseen' calamity, it's a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

An unforeseen occurrence could befall any one of us at any time, because we can not foresee what will happen to us in 5 minutes. It saddens me that so many people lost their life on 9/11...but I'm happy to hear that some survived.

I am so glad that you came to Abe's Town and commented on my shaving again. And your comment was priceless, "...as smooth as a baby butt." I am just so thankful that you still remember how smooth my butt was/is. I have had you for all of the last 53 years and it has been a trip. I love you.

I love this. I try to think like this though I don't always succeed. I'm getting there.

I believe this very thing, and I've known many stories of folks who no matter how they tried to do something "their"way, God had another plan. I've seen it in my own life, and I try and remember it especially when I am in a hurry to get somewhere!!
But it is also true that time and chance happen to us all. Even very good, good people died on 9/11 and did nothing wrong. Others are spared. There is some order to things that only God knows, and its enough for me to know that HE knows. I try to relax in that :)
