Mahatma Gandhi the great Indian statesman and spiritual leader (1869-1948), is noted for his unusual humanity, selflessness, as well as his peaceful revolution which heralded modern day India.
Gandhi was boarding a train one day with a number of companions and followers, when his shoe fell from his foot and disappeared in the gap between the train and platform. Unable to retrieve it, he took off his other shoe and threw it down by the first.
Responding to the puzzlement of his fellow travelers, Gandhi explained that a poor person who finds a single shoe is no better off - what's really helpful is finding a pair.
This is Rex Barker, reminding you that to really grow in life is to think beyond yourself.

that was nice 2 read
Really great, Patty! I am a great admirer of Gandhi's. He is the example of the modern man and woman.
Never quit thought of it in those terms.
Now I think this is best ever, (again).
Oh I want to be like that!!!
Very nice story about a great man.
Patty, we got down to 11 this morning, warmed up to 15 during the day, and will get down to 0 tonight! Brrrr.
Actually, I wish I did have a small house. It would take so much less to heat it. But you asked about my heat source. My main heat source is propane, but I also have a little pot bellied wood stove, as back up, and it keeps things very and warm in here on cold days like this. I love that little stove, and since I live in the woods, there is a lot of wood at my disposal.
My daughter and older son say it's brutally cold and snowy in Cleveland, just like by you. I hope we have an early spring!
Stay warm and safe and have a good night!
