Your best friend or greatest enemy, I am your greatest companion. I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden. I will push you onwards or drag you down to failure. I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do, you might as well turn over to me and I'll do them quickly and correctly. I'm easily managed, but you must be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done and, after a few lessons, I'll do it automatically. I'm the servant of all great men and, alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great. Those who are failures, I have made failures. I work with the precision of a scientist and the passion of a patriot. You many run me for profit or run me for ruin; it makes no difference to me. Take me, train me, be firm with me and I will put the world at your feet. But be easy with me and I'll destroy you.
Who am I?

I am Habit!
Reminding you that good habits elevate you, and bad habits bring you down. The trick is to know which is which, and for you to control them, not let them control you. In this New Year, it is time to review your habits, and to be honest with yourself. Which of these are good, which need to adjusted, and which are outright harmful. Know this is half the battle of moving forward. So let’s all start the process of evaluating our habits, and each day making progress towards serious personal growth. Then – you will have a truly "HAPPY" New Year.

Dear Patty ~~ Great post as usual.
Looks like we should go for good habits to get ahead. You are welcome to post those Play on words on your blog if you like as we have some different readers. Glad you liked the jokes about the blonde who never learns and the priest one. Take great
care dear friend, Love, Merle.
So very true, Patty!
But why is it that the bad habits are so hard to break?
New Year! Just the time to make or break habits. But it's now two weeks into 2009. How many resolutions have already bitten the dust?
Hi Patty!
Great thinking there!!! I never really thought about my habits, but guess we all have them, good and bad. This IS the time of year to re-evaluate them and change the bad ones. My biggest 'bad' habit is procrastination! LOL I have such big ideas but so little energy and put things off all too often.
((( HUGS )))
This is truly an outstanding post. It is the best New Year's resolution for us all, because we are after all creatures of habit. Hope this finds your New Year great so far.
It is true, Patty! A habit must be controlled and changed if necessary. Difficult!
Well at my age I have so many bad habits I don't know where to start!
I have been trying not spend as much time on the computer, but it isn't working. I don't know, is this a good or bad habit? I suppose it's a bad habit since I can't seem to break it, and good habits are so easy to break. hahaha.
Yes it's hard to break some habits. Like Ann I was hoping to spend less time on the computer but I enjoy it so why not. Also it keeps you in touch and you learn a lot so it keeps your brain active.
There are good habits and bad habits. You might not want to control the good ones as much as you might want to control the bad ones. Breaking them is another story.
My worst habbit is procrastinating as well. It's not an easy one to break. But really great advice in this post, as usual.
I hope all is well and that you'll have a great Sunday.
Renie
PS. My daughter said they are getting snowed in, in the Cleveland area. And even Athens, where my granddaughter goes to college, (OU) had snow the other day. Hope you didn't get snowed in.
This is the problems with habits, they're both good and bad.
