Another Rex Barker here with

"Personal Happiness" sent in by
Dov B of London...

This is a true story. Some years ago the following exchange was broadcast on an Open University sociology TV program. An interviewer was talking to production-line worker in a biscuit factory. The dialogue went like this:

Interviewer: How long have you worked here?

Production Lady: Since I left school - about 15 years...

Interviewer: What do you do?

Production Lady: I take packets of biscuits off the conveyor belt and put them into cardboard boxes.

Interviewer: Have you always done the same job? Production?

Lady: Yes.

Interviewer: Do you enjoy it?

Production Lady: Oooh yes, it's great, everyone is so nice and friendly, we have a good laugh.

Interviewer (with a hint of disbelief): Really? Don't you find it a bit boring?

Production Lady: Oh no, sometimes they change the biscuits...

Reminding you don't assume that that what motivates you is what motivate others. It is also important to recognize that sources of happiness may vary widely between people.

Dear Patty ~~ It was so good that the lady biscuit packer was so happy in her job. It is great too, that we have our families, reasonable health
with plenty of warmth and food.
I smiled at you running to the shop, I haven't run snywhere for years, and walk with a cane. Bring on your spring and our autumn. After this heat, I am looking forward to Winter this year. We don't have snow here,
only on the mountains. Take care
dear friend, Love, Merle.

One is as happy as one makes up one's mind to be. (Using "one" here to keep from s/he his/her). I like this story.

If a person enjoys his/her job, he/she is not on job. Its job turned hobby with a pay-cheque.

It's true that there are people who are never happy and they are always criticising almost anybody they meet!
Fortunately there are also people who always see the sun shine even when their work is boring.

It makes a difference when you're in a job you love!
Pure contentment is what we all seem to strive for.

SHe must have been a loyal employee! I get bored too easily myself. That is a great story, though.

I see that Abe has removed some of his blogs. I just added them all to my blogroll the other day. LOL I don't know how he can keep up wth so many. I enjoyed them all, though, when I got the chance to visit.

Got down to 18 last night here...I saw on your blog during the night that it was 13 there. TV said with the wind chill factored in, our temp felt like 4 degrees! I can never remember it being that cold here. Another cold one tonight...they say down to 17. Wonder what our wind chill will be??? Waiting for summe...bring on the heat!!!

((( HUGS )))

What a wonderful ability to just live in the moment, and enjoy and recognize the good things. Makes me think of that Trace Adkins song These are the good times. Sometimes we just don't notice it. That lady sure did!

Some people are content to just do their job and get paid for it, then their is others that are not content and seem to make things difficult for themselves and others around them.

That reminded me of some jobs I have had many years ago. Only I could not adapt as well as this lady. I get bored very easily, or I used to when I was younger. Maybe that job wouldn't be so bad at my age now...ha!
