Today was the

Noble Circle Luncheon
They used the theme of the Mardi Gras to plan their luncheon and entertainment. We had a very good lunch, I am going to post the menu they had standing on the table.

Click the menu below to enlarge. The other sheet was the back side of the menu. Guess who got the piece of cake with the baby? ME! So I came home with a pretty pot of white mums, which I'll have to transplant as soon as the ground is soft enough to dig a hole.

This is a big money making project for the Noble Circle group. I don't belong to it, but our one daughter's partner is a member. She is a 2 plus year ovarian cancer survivor. They lost four members in 2008 and one so far in 2009. They keep their membership to about 130 members. I like the quote on the front of their booklet they have for each person present at the luncheon. This year they had about 725 people attend. At $50.00 a plate, they will end up with a nice little profit. Now for the quote "Smile With An Intent To Do Mischief" ~~ Robert Burton. I also got to meet Helen, our daughter's partner's Grandmother who is 94 years old. She is still very alert and active. I can only hope, if I live that long, my mind and body will both be functioning at the same time. LOL
Everyone have a great evening.

A noble cause indeed. The menu was fun to read, looking at all those delicious dishes and learning about Mardi Gras. And the grandmother, well people like that are a role model for us all. I often say that my 88 year old father-in-law has more energy than the two of us together. If I have half of it at his age, and my dec'd mother-in-law would say in her quirky sense of humor, "Now you're being pretty optimistic there", I will be very happy.

How terrible is cancer! Recently a neighbour of mine has died of cancer, so has another neighbour and my husband. Those past ten years 3 people died of cancer in our street of 18 houses.

What a nice fund raiser, Patty, and for such a great cause. The menu looks very tasty. And how nice that you won the baby and got the mum. Hopefully, you'll be able to plant it soon.

We got 5 inches of snow today! Bummer!!! That means I can't go to church in the morning. But a warm up is coming back early next week. My little blooming jonquils look perky in the snow.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

wow mom...looks like a great menu and food! That salad sounds good to me right now! Great you had the piece of cake with the baby! What are the odds of that!

Congrats on getting the baby! And the mum! The odds of getting that out of so many people present are slim...you must be a lucky person!!!

What a great menu! I enjoyed reading both sides of it. I had never heard of a King Cake before, so I got a little education there! LOL What a wonderful fund raiser and for such a great cause, too!

Remarkable grandmother there...like my Grandma Jenny. I probably don't have that much energy now at my age...

Glad you had a good time and won the mum!!!

I don't think I made myself clear. Each table (ten to a table)had this cake in the center. To me it looked more like a cinnamon bread type coffee cake. It was cut into ten pieces with lots and lots of brightly colored icing and some sparkly sugar sprinkles. One of the pieces had the little baby, which was fasten to something that looked like a flat crown. Who ever got that was the king/queen of the table and they got a pot of mums. Since there were about 725 people there, they gave away quite a few pots of mums. A greenhouse in New Lebanon Ohio furnished the mums. The owners daughter-in-law is a survivor, but also constantly fighting it as it comes back and attacks her again. She is definitely a fighter and a strong woman. Oh yes, it's Stockslager's Nursery.
