I am blessed indeed.

Forgive Me When I Whine

Today upon a bus I saw a lovely girl with golden hair.
I envied her - she seemed so gay - and wished I were as fair.
But suddenly she rose to leave. I saw her hobble down the aisle,
she had only one leg and wore a crutch, but as she passed,
a smile...

Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I have two legs, the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold them had such charm.
I stopped to talk to him, he seemed so glad
if I was late could do no harm.
As I left he said to me, "I thank-you, you had been so kind.
It's nice to talk to folks like you, you see," he said,
"I am blind."

Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I have two eyes, the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play, he did not know what to
do. I stopped a moment and said,
"Why don't you join the others, dear?"
He looked ahead without a word and then I knew,
he couldn't hear.

Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I have two ears, the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I go,
with eyes to see the sun-set glow,
with ears to hear what I would know.

Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I am blessed indeed, the world is mine!

It is true, we sometimes take for granted all our blessings. Nice poem.

A very telling poem indeed. As I snuggle down in bed at night and think, maybe, that the pillow's a bit hard I think of all the people who don't know what a pillow is!

Dear Patty ~~ I love this post and have seen it before. It's a good one. There is always someone worse off than we are.
Take care my friend. Love, Merle.

This is an interesting post and most of the sayings are true.

So true. There is always someone worse of. We should be grateful for all our blessings, and kind and helpful to those that need help and a kind word or smile.

We had such a beautiful day today. I hope you did as well.

Lovely post Patty, makes you think. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving that recipe for bread doughnuts. I am going to give it a try.

Hi again Patty ~~ Thanks for your
words about my family _ I am kinda
partial to them also. Watch that nine year old, she will catch you
in the height department soon.
Glad you enjoyed the jokes. Your
weather sound pretty cool for summer. Have a great week, my friend. Love, Merle.

Thank you for these wise words. This morning I felt very down, and I know I shouldn't. Reading your post tells me to be happy for the things I have.
I wish you a great week! This week I shan't be blogging for I am going away for a couple of days.

i've always loved this poem growing up. and loved og mandino's books, too. sometimes i think i was more inclined to be "old-maidish" because instead of reading books my parents read, sigh...
