Taxes
This might be funny if it weren't so darned true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end:

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
Taxes drove me
to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'

And I still have to 'press 1' for English!?

Dear Patty ~~ What a heck of a lot of taxes - I wonder what on earth they will come up with next.
There can't be much left to tax us on
I hope all is well with you my friend
Take care, Love, Merle.

Australia is said to be over-governed, but I think your list of taxes is even more frightening!

Sure is a bunch of taxes and seen like that can take your breath away. However, 100 years ago, I would still be trying to earn a living at 70 with out my SS. That I find more scary.

This is a fascinating post Patty. Thank you for sharing it. Thank you also for identifying the Wheel Bug for me, and Abe too. I looked at the link you supplied, it's a fascinating little critter isn't it?

Someone has done well to compile all these taxes, change a few of the titles and it would apply to GB as well.
This post is very scary!

I know somebody who couldn't work for some years and still is taxed, while he has nothing left.

Merle is right, a lot of taxes, and to think of all the illegal aliens in this country that do no pay taxes, another good post.

Someone sent this tax poem to me several weeks ago, so I have read it before. Pretty sobering, for sure! And with all the debt this country is in, they will find yet another way to tax us, very soon.

Have a good night.

Wonder what the govt. will do when they have taxed us so much that we can't afford to eat?
Who will fill their fat bank accounts then?
Ohhhh, just don't get me started!!!

The saying "what's this country coming to" seems appropriate in the face of this post. I have never necessarily thought that progress was always a good thing. I think this post may point that out quite eloquently.
