Rex Barker here with,

"We'll See..."

Once upon a time, there was a poor farmer in China who used an old horse to plow his field. One afternoon, the horse dropped dead, and everyone in the village said, "Oh, what a horrible thing to happen." The farmer said simply, "We'll see." He was so at peace and so calm, that everyone in the village got together and, admiring his attitude, bought him a new horse as a gift.

Everyone's reaction now was, "What a lucky man." And the farmer said, "We'll see."

A couple days later, the new horse jumped a fence and ran away. Everyone in the village shook their heads and said, "What a poor fellow!" The farmer smiled and said, "We'll see."

Eventually, the horse found his way home, and everyone again said, "What a fortunate man." The farmer said, "We'll see."

Later in the year, the farmer's young boy went out riding on the horse and fell and broke his leg. Everyone in the village said, "What a shame for the poor boy." The farmer said, "We'll see."

Two days later, the army came into the village to draft new recruits. When they saw that the farmer's son had a broken leg, they decided not to recruit him. Everyone said, "What a fortunate young man." The farmer smiled again - and said, "We'll see."

Reminding you that we are not in control of the world. Often what looks like a setback or a difficulty is actually a helping hand from the Divine. And often, only with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight can we see that everything happened to help us along the path for the mission determining why we are here in this world. So the next time, something supposedly bad happens to you, say, "This, also, is for good," and expect that one day you will understand why.

You post some awesome stuff!!! I can use this in our bible study and when offering an encouraging word to a friend...it is so hard to see where God has brought us until we look back to where we have been.

yes, anything that happens, there is a reason Patty and all we can do is to leave our cares and burdens upon our Lord...

This is really a good post and very truthful. When things happen around our house my husband always says "things always happen to us", and I tell him he is wrong, things happen to every one we are not singled out. Thanks Patty, this was great.

There is a much longer version of the same story in my Bible Study called Calm my Anxious Heart.

It was so nice to read it again....
So true to life.

I agree with Abe! Lot of truth in this post. There is a reason for everything that happens, and our reaction to it is what makes it good or bad!

Hope it warms up soon in your neck of the woods, and the snow melts.

We all have something to learn from this. Great story. Nothing is certain in this life.

Oh, so true! Looking back I can see how hardships in my life have translated into beauty and good.

Thank you. You know--I'm praying for you and Abe. You two are very dear to my heart.

You two have been on my mind a LOT today.

Yes, everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we don't know what that reason is. And sometimes it's best that we don't.
