Answers to the Gene Autry trivia questions

1. The first gold record ever recorded was That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine, cowritten by Gene Autry and his railroad dispatcher buddy, Jim Long.
2. Roy Rogers was Gene's replacement when Gene entered the service.
3. Gene starred in National Barn Dance.
4. Along with Oakley Haldeman, Gene wrote Here Comes Santa Claus, and he was first to record and popularize Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.

My brother was a big Autry fan and I was a huge Rogers fan. Many a sibling war was started over who was best.

Didn't know Roy Rogers was Gene's replacement. I liked Roy Rogers more than Autry, in the movies, but loved Rudolph the Red-Nosed Raindeer, and have a very old record of it stashed somewhere. He was a very talented man, but Roy was better looking! LOL
