He has put on some weight. From treats. So we are all trying to reduce him down something like 3 pounds. The vet said to give him two or three baby carrots instead of his regular treats in an effort to reduce him but still giving him something to eat. Believe me we didn't know dogs would even eat carrots but he does and appears to like them as much as anything else. He is fine and still does get a regular treat usually after he goes out and comes back in first thing in the morning.

Glad Pepper J. is eating healthy snacks. It is in his best interest that he not gain too much weight. Mama and Daddy's dog was overweight and ended up having diabetes. Sweet girl that she was had 2 insulin shots per day for several years before she died. Continued hugs and love to Pepper Jax.
He is a pretty dog. I didn't know dogs liked carrots. We might just get one to eat them as she doe like veggies but no way would the other one eat any.
Well I know some dogs who like them but I had one who hated them. Years back we gave our pet scraps 'cause pet food was too costly. When there were cooked carrots in the mix he would pull them out one by one, placing them next to his dish before eating.
My dog love his raw carrots, but give him some cooked carrots he won't even touch them. lol
During the summer months I also give him ice cubes, as well as frozen chicken broth cubes which is frozen in ice trays. He loves those too.
