Life from the seat of a tractor

An old farmer's words of wisdom we could all live by

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.

Keep skunks, lawyers, bankers and politicians at a distance.

Life is simpler when you just plow around the stump.

A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

Words that soak into your mind and heart are whispered.... never yelled.

If you cain't improve on the silence, shut up.

You ain't perfect, not even close - accept it and move on with good intention.

Meanness don't just happen overnight, it's festering inside.

Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads and frees up your heart.

Don't corner nothing you know is meaner or more desperate than you.

It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge, the longer you carry it, the heavier it gets and the more damage it does.

You cannot unsay a cruel word.

With luck, every path has a few puddles.

If you ain't got troubles or challenges, you ain't achieving much.

Life ain't smooth, remember a stream has no song until it runs over the rocks.

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

The best sermons are lived, not preached.

Most of the stuff people worry about, ain't never gonna happen anyway.

Don't judge folks by their relatives, judging ain't your job anyhow.

Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

Live a good and honorable life, then when you get older and think back, you get to enjoy it over and over.

Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't bothering you none.

If the sun is always shining, - everything dies.

Timin' has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

When you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do - is stop diggin'.

Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

Stop beatin up on yourself, plenty of others will find a reason to do it.

If you tell the truth, you don't need a great memory.

The biggest troublemaker you ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.

Sometimes you gain most by letting go.

Always drink up stream from the herd.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.

Lettin' the cat outta the bag, is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.

If you get to thinkin' you're a person of real influence, try orderin' somebody else's horse or dog around.

If you're goin through Hell, keep goin!

A good life is simple as a handful of wheat, with one breath blow away the chaff and share what's left with those you love.

The greatest gifts in life cain't never be bought.

Decide what's best for you, not what's best for everyone else.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God.

And, finally......

Wise man. If only all folks would think and live that way, it would be a better world.

I read these with a "southern accent" in my mind. I don't know why...just did. I love each of them. They are hard but true facts of life. Thank you for sharing them.
Love,
Jackie
